Just wondering - how much do you think I will be able to overclock the E6300? I have pretty slow ram, but...

Specs:
Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Memory - 2x512MB PC3200 (dual channel), generic-ish
Aspire 550W PSU
Sapphire ATI X1900GT

I'm not really skilled with overclocking, just wondering how far I can push the E6300 with stock cooling.

What if I move up to faster ram, like so?

Thanks.

You will have to move up to that RAM. The PC3200 you have in your specs won't run on your board. The stock 775 HSF will work for mild or medium overclocks.

How far could I go with the new ram?

That depends on many factors. PC6400 is rated at 800mhz. Generally good overclocking 800 mhz. RAM will run near or silghtly above 1000 mhz. PC3200 is DDR not DDR2 and will not work in the board you have in your specs.
