Noobie needs hlp on new PC

I am interested on buying a new PC next week, but i am really confused about the components.

My budget is 950$ - 1100$ and the main purpose is gaming.

The above badget does not include monitor, keybord, mouse, speaker or any other peripheral.

I do not have any preferance between AMD-INTEL or ATI-NVIDIA.

I do not intend to OC.

I do not have any site preference.

Keep in mind that i do not intend to make any upgrades for at least 2 years.

So should i go with a dual core or a quad (is it worth buing I7?) ? AMD or Intel? ATI or NVIDIA? DDR2 or 3?

Sorry if my questions are already answered in other threads... i just wanted a complete proposal for my budjet and needs....thanks in advance.

And a general suggestion...

For about $1100 you can easily get an i7...but more info is required whether the budget includes a monitor and other peripherals...If so then i7 might not be an options and a very good alternative is the AMD X5 955...

If the PC is mainly for gaming, then you can save money by going with X4 955...

As you don't intend to overclock and the main purpose is gaming, stick with the X4 955...

And get a Quad...

PSU - Corsair 750TX - Reason - Would be required if you want to run 2 cards in crossfire...

Graphics card -
2x HD 4890 in crossfire...

CASE - More of personal preference but the CM 690 is a very good roomy case with high quality build...

Graphics card - What is your screen resolution ??? I would suggest you buy a single HD 4890 first and check out its performance...If it satisfies you, then don't add one more 4890 now...instead save some money for the next gen cards...
But if you feel you need more graphics power, then add one more HD 4890...

I would go for gkay's build, using one 4890, and then use the money you would have put towards the second card, for a 5870.
