So I have been wanting to do a build for bf3 and had all the parts picked out and was ready to buy untill I heard the 560ti cards I was wanting to use were hit or miss quality. I am also very new to the computer building deal, and have gotten myself very confused!

So I was wanting to SLI a pair of the gtx 560ti cards from msi, but was scared after reading all the reviews on how they were doa or whatnot. So now I am wanting to get a single gtx 580 and will possibly sli in the future but not soon. Would I see a difference in performance between a single 580 and two 560ti's?

here are the cards

I'd grab a single 560. You can always SLI or upgrade later if you wanted to. The 580 is really more than anyone needs and its price/performance isn't that hot. DOA's happen to anyone with everything.

You'll play BF3 fine with a single 560. Might not be 100FPS+ with everything maxed but it will be nice

gtx 560ti is very fine for bf3 game and later do sli configuration for beast performance
and if you want gtx 580 then this will be ultimate solution for every game with single not sli and you can maxed every games without any doubt i also using gtx 580 single and i am happy with it

So the 580 again! haha! But honestly I am leaning twards the 580.

One, I am new to the pc building world, so would rather have one gpu rather than two because thats one less thing as forest say.

Basically, I just want to make shure I am not going to get burned by some junk that wont preform to the standards I have (like bf3 or bad company 2.) And I want to FINALLY order my parts, build my pc, and retire my peice of crap laptop :bounce:

Go for a 560ti or a 570 for now, you can always get another latter on for SLI, which will be a LOT better then a single 580. The problem with 580 in SLI is needing to have a very powerful power supply to run it and CPU powerfull enough to avoid bottlenecking, 560ti SLI and 570 SLI is a lot more manageable and cheaper.

If your only planning on having a single GPU then go for the 580.

EDIT: What CPU, PSU etc are you going for?
