Normal hard drive light behavior?

Good evening, all,

I was wanting to get some confirmation on how exactly a computer's hard drive light works and what it means. What exactly is normal and what's not, basically.

Is the light supposed to be blinking or staying on perpetually during normal operations?

Under normal circumstances when the hard drive is active the light will blink. If it's idle (i.e. not working) the light will be off.
