New laptop stays open overnight on bedside table. The normal ticks and clicks you get with some HDD's are a bit annoying.
If I add an M.2 is there a way to isolate/turn off the HDD? and leave it resting other than for backup. Thanks!
It's a 2019 HP 15z. I recommend the model/form factor. Good touch screen/keyboard/mouse pad. BL keyboard is nice, a touch soft, but most are. This one is Ryzen 3-2300U, 8GB haven't tested the system performance.

Solution
SSDs, both in traditional 2.5" form factor and M.2 iterations (can be SATA or NVME, so make sure which your laptop is capable of before ordering) have no moving parts, and are completely silent.

(Is there some reason to to leave a laptop on overnight.....?)
