Just wondering what would be acceptable for idle temps in a gigabyte gtx 970 windforce 3x oc edition. The ambient temp is around 23C, but the GPU idles around 43-47C.

No, this gpu is kinda the opposite. the lowest the fan speeds will go is 30%, and at the idle temps, it hangs around 47% fan speed, which is 3 fans at 1500 rpm. I dont think the software even allows the gpu itself to lower the fanspeed to 0%

Yes, I think its normal, my friend has same temps and he's happy with it. :d

Ok, now that's messed up, you're idle temp is fine but load temp is a bit too much, but as it is OCed, so make sure theres decent airflow.

It is OC'd at 105% power limit and 125+ mhz on the gpu clock and 150+ on the memory clock. The thing is i feel like the airflow is the best my case and my setup will allow, since its in a Phanteks p400s eclipse, which has a really horrible front panel for airflow and a 280 radiator for my cpu running push/pull config.

Ok, now I'm left speechless! I've been having same issue with my hdd, but I know that it's the airflow messing up. In you're case, things are pretty confusing.... :/

yea. the weird thing my gpu has similar temps to my cpu, which is a water cooled i7 7700k at 5 Ghz. Plus i removed the original TIM on my gpu and placed some aftermarket paste and it got 5C lower, so it was worse stock

the thing is, ambient temps over here are 7C less, yet higher fan speed at idle and still higher idle temps. And also higher load temps for lower ambient temps

I know the card throttles after it hits a specific temp, but the thing is, for such a light overclock imo, it shouldnt be hitting those temps. And the thing is, I'd rather have my card not throttle during gaming.
