This is more a thank you & another suggestion to try than a question. My Windows 8.1 C drive was red for no apparent reason and it was driving me nuts! I tried a zillion things, some of which were taking off all my stuff & putting it on an external drive & it didn't make a dent. I tried deleting all the restore points except the latest - no difference. I tried WinDirStat - nothing showed up. Then I ran it in safe mode & all of a sudden the Norton 360 Back up which came from the Comcast Version came up taking up 91% of my hard Drive. I kid you not, there are 34000 files in that damn thing. So...I went back in to regular mode & disabled the Norton back up completely. I created a new restore point on my regular system just in case & now I am shredding that stupid file which had been set to default to C. I have no idea how this happened but I can tell you I am seriously annoyed with Norton. Why would it ever possibly need 800gb? I'm completely flabbergasted. It took me so long to find, and was so aggravating I thought I'd post it here. You guys really helped me in trying all the suggestions, but the suggestion that really helped me find it was running WinDirStat in safe mode. Thank you so much!

I know why it was taking up that amount of space - the Norton Back up was defaulted to my C drive & it apparently saved every back up copy for the last year & a half. I uninstalled it but it did not delete that file. I had to manually delete it & then reinstall Norton but disable the Norton 360 Back up so it doesn't happen again.
