NoShow at CeBit show.

Yes, it's really like reporting, "extra, extra! There is no news!", but the lack of a showing means that our initial time lines of around march/april for ati/nV respectively are now in question.

Here's Xbit to burst your bubble.

Sounds to me like it won't be worth buying new technology until the end of the year when all the upcoming changes are out and *some* stability arrives. Unless of course you're in the market for a cheap R9800 or similar, like me ;o)

My bet is that they'll appear when certain upcoming software is ready... HL2 or D3, whichever comes first.

Either that, or both companies are keeping their cards close to their chest and waiting to play them as a response to whichever game comes out first.
i.e. If D3 is released first, and the geforceFX cards make the R3xx series of cards look bad, Ati will respond by releasing the R4xx series....
And if HL2 is released first, and the Ati's spank the GeforceFX cards, Nvidia will release the NV4x series...

Either that, or they'll wait a couple months after the games are released to get the most $$$ out of existing 9800XT and 5950 stocks.
That's probably the most likely explanation, unfortunately...

Yeah, we need a third Real Contender to shake things up and force quicker releases. I hate marketing to be the reason we don't see the new technology.

YEah I see where you're coming from. I'm not quite a cynical, but I do understand it, maybe I'm overly optomistic.

I nV is waiting until they can get good yields, I think ATI is riding their current advantage into the next generation and have no need to update.

I agree that it will take a spark to get these things moving, be it the launch of the games or the launch of the pci-ex equipped boards.

And while both ATI and nV are milking the last generation, making this next one potentially shorter which means that the costs won't be spread out as long over the run of the card. I would think they would want to release them quickly
to spread out the costs better.

I have to say I'm dissapointed. Missing the launch really costs more R&D if your competitors are still moving forward, and going through similar current developments, allowing them to catch up just means any advanatage is wasted.

It doesn't take much to start a war around here with the paranoid NVboys floating around. I mentioned a Radeon 32DDR and GF2MX in one post and WW3 broke out.

Yeah that was almost worthless battle, but I myself am looking forward to the new releases and battles as there are plenty of level headed people around who will support the best card no matter what brand it is. Of course if they come out virtually equal, I'll personally stay on ATI's side.
