I don't know why all the friendly users just seem to have vanished and stopped reading anybody's posts, but whatever the case, the result is that nobody leaves comments anymore on posts, and the only person who says anything is some troll who just posts a random string of offensive stuff that doesn't even match up with what I typed.
The thing is, I had witty comebacks to a lot of things back in the day. Except I wouldn't go in circles like people usually did online. They could yell back at me all they want, but I wouldn't respond a second time. It was more fun to come up with something when others were around to see you "shut down" a troll in a more clever/witty way without being a total jerk yourself.
But now, you make a post, and the troll is the only one replying to it. So nobody is going to see your witty reply to it. Anyone who does always upvotes the troll and down votes your witty reply, along with the post itself. Then the troll keeps replying to themselves and creating a comment chain that's longer than a soccer field, all of which get up voted by every reader of the story, yet no one else ever says anything.
