I have a server 2008 machine. I know server 2008 is same as windows 7 and vista. I have a general problem. My windows does not start up.I can sometimes start it with a server 2008 boot cd. I donot know how to repair or run any command so that it can boot fine. I did start it with to server 2008 cd and choose repair option. But I believe I can only goto command prompt in this repair menu as I donot have any backup image for complete pc restore. Some times my this 2008 machine boots with boot with server 2008 cd. But without it,there is no boot. Please help suggest some commands that I can run to fix this problem

Thanks

Need some more details here. Does not start up how? Error messages? Where exactly does it stop booting? What happened to cause this, if you know?

Look here for repair options and methods http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserversetup/thread/cd3d665f-3d95-4617-946d-55d8c03448fe

Server 2008 is not the same as the other Windows versions, it may look similar and have some code that is shared, but an issue with one is not the same as an issue in another. Server OS installed a lot of things that the regular editions of Windows do not have.
