Hi all,
please help me in port forwarding. i m stuck in the middle.
suppose my local ip is - 192.168.0.103
and public ip is - <Redacted. Please don't post your public IP>
I have a modem and a router because i m using a phone line connection.
so here is what i do, i login to the modem and go to the port forwarding setting and give my public ip there and port no -4455 . after that i go into the router setting and go the port forwarding setting again and give local ip I.e. 192.168.0.103 and open same port 4455. but still when i m checking on canyouseeme.org my port is not open.
and yeah my software is also open the port 4455 but its not giving me green signal.
my firewall is also off.

There should be no reason to enter your own public IP address when port forwarding.

Also, port forwarding is normally configured on only one NAT device on a home network. If your modem has a configuration page for port forwarding, it may actually be a modem with integrated router. You will need to address this problem before trying to get ports forwarded properly. (This usually requires you put the modem in bridge mode, configuring the router as an AP only, or putting the router in the "modem's" DMZ.)

You may need to provide the make and model of both your modem and router.

Sir,
Thanks you so much for the answer.
As i told you i dont know much about networking but as you told me i will try to google it now.
just for info -
my modem model D-link 2520U
My wifi router is digiflip WR001
and my concern is, i m not able to connect my software with my public IP address but when i try to connect my software from my local ip. it start working but when i try to connect my software with my public ip it does not connect.

Your DLink modem also functions as a router. In order to port forward properly, you'll need to do one of the following.

- Put the DLink modem in bridge mode.

- Configure the Digiflip to work as an access point only.

- Place the Digiflip in the DLink's DMZ. (pg 40 of the user manual)

loll.. i have chosen the second option and i set my digiflip router to set as access point only and all my cell phones stopped working except laptop...
after that i tried to login in my dlink router... but sum how my dlink router also stopped working. i tried everything.
I finally call me internet provider they come to my place and they changed my modem router to Zyxel Amg1001-t10a, but this dosent resolved my problem when i again give select AP only my mobile stopped working.
