I installed windows 7 ultimate on my macbook pro through boot camp and i have 8gb of RAM but when i go to the system in control panel it says that only 2.17gb is usable.
Ok well does that mean that my system is still using the 8gb of RAM when it needs it.
No it does not. A 32-bit operating system can only address 4GB of RAM, and that same address pool is shared for all memory addressing. In plain English, a 32-bit windows can only support 4GB and part of that is unusable.
