Question Not all ram usable

Hi so i had 2x4 Ram installed and i’ve been planning on getting more, 4x8. when i had 8 then only about 6 of it was usable, and i finally got the 16, but still only 6 of it is usable. i’ve seen many other people have similar things, does anyone know why hardly any of the ram is usable and how i can fix this?

Ok so i went and did something which was uncheck maximum memory or whatever, and now around 14 gb is usable, which makes sense because when i had 8 then 6 was usable, now i have 16 and 14 is usable. in task manager it says that 2gb is reserved, what does that mean and what is it reserved for? i’m fine with just 14, i dont even play many pc games that require more than even 8, i mostly play older games. but if there is a way i can change this and have all my ram usable, i’d like to know
