I'm working on a new build. Probably 30-40% of its purpose is to edit video and graphics. And I'm on a fairly tight budget - aren't we all? - so I'm looking for a little advice on a fitting graphics card.

Right now I have the basics either in hand or on the way:
-Core i5-6600K
-16GB PC4-2300 Memory
-256 GB Samsung SSD
-ASUS H110M-E/M.2 Motherboard
-EVGA 600W PSU
-2 x 2TB HDD 7600 RPM
-Zalman Z3 Plus Mid-tower
-LG WH16NS40 16X Bluray Drive
-ASUS DRW-24B1ST 24X DVD Drive
-ViewSonic 28” 1920x1080 Display

BTW, I'd really wanted an i7-6700K and thought I had a fantastic deal on one. Unfortunately, there's that little issue with things that sound too good to be true turning out to be just that. So I had to settle for an i5.

Ultimately, I want to go to a 32” 3D monitor but for now the 28” will do. Anyway, I'm pondering a couple of cards and would appreciate any helpful advice on which (if either) would be better for my purposes.
My current favorite is the ASUS GeForce 1060 GTX 6GB DDR5
My second choice is the ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon Rx 470 4GB STRIX-RX470-4G-GAMING

Both are in the mid-$200 range but I'm leaning towards the 1060 for the extra memory plus the fact that I've just always preferred nVidia products over AMD. I also read that Radeon cards tend to get outdated rather quickly.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Thanks a million for the quick response! Thanks, too, for the links to other threads on the subject.

After sleeping on it and doing a little more research myself, I came to the conclusion that the 1060 was all around the better choice. Even though I'm not a hard core gamer I think the extra memory with the faster processor will help somewhat to mitigate the less ballsy CPU.

Thanks for helping with my final decision! My 6600K came in today so I'm going to start putting it all together. Sadly I have to wait till next week to get the 1060 though.

Thanks again!
