Not booting from bootable media

I have a laptop that was showing me the bluescreen, saying that there was a problem with corrupt data etc and that windows could not load and then it would attempt to scan and repair. no matter what options i tried i kept coming back to the same diagnosis of corrupt hard drive/data. originally my asus x555i came equipped with a 1tb hdd drive but now i have chosen to replace it with a 2tb 2.5" seagate barracuda hdd. i instaleed the hdd yesterday and then was greeted with the message:- please insert boot media device with the PXE errors, i have inserted a windows 10 install disc but still my laptop will not boot from this CD. however i have tried this disc in another working laptop that i own and instantly it has begun the process of installing the new OS so i know its not because i have a faulty disc. so far i have arranged the boot priorities and disabled the network boot option and ive made sure that the hdd is correctly installed/fitted. but im still getting the message of "please insert boot media or device and press a key" the only difference is that i am no longer getting the PXE message above the boot media one. please please any advice would be greatly appreciated , i do have use of a linux mint usb chip but minimal experience with using it, also i have use of a slim10 disc and windows 10 install/repair disc

Was Windows 10 already activated on your device? If so, you don't need a license key to create media or install it (just skip when prompted).

The issue is probably with the media itself. Just create your own and you should be able to boot from it (plus, you won't have to wait for rounds of updates!).
Unless this is a newly created disk, I'd start by creating your own media (USB or Disk)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

Once you get everything installed, from an older disk, you'll have to go through numerous rounds of updates - this way, you're as close to the latest build as possible.

As for booting from media, you'll probably need to enable CSM-support in the BIOS to boot from a USB (although a disk should be fine)..

Thanks for your reply Barty, much appreciated would be an understatement lol.

Well i bought the disc off a seller "AJRath" on ebay less than 2months ago along with a slim10 disc, a linux mint usb stick w/16gb storage and also a driver pack update usb stick. The Win10 disc i have is running version 1709.

I recently messaged him asking him about the disc and i have just had a message back from him saying that the disc is dual layer, he seems to think that if i install 1709, windows 10 will download and install 1803. But obviously im having trouble getting the media to boot, so im now about to check that my dvd rom is dual layer compatible and attempt to make the media myself.

I've followed the link that you provided me with but i cant find my license/product key that came with my windows 10 package i had with the laptop im working on, have you any suggestions to this problem i have ?

once again my most sincere thanks

Yeah, Windows 10 was already activated on the device. I've just read all through the info on that link you sent me and it sounds like a good plan, i'm gonna give it a go and get back to you asap.
