Not Detecting 2nd GPU - AMD Radeon HD 8990 With Alienware Auora R4 Dual GPU

Okay, I have an alienware auora r4, and i bought dual gpus.... But when I open the computer up... i can only see one AMD Radeon HD 8990.... And then i go on AMD System Monitor, and it shows that there is two, and one is doing everything, and then another is sitting there with no activity.. Why is this?? How can I fix it?? Any help would be great, I will provide more info if needed.

Also, it gets really hot, AMD Catalyst says it gets up to 95 C... And I just got the dust out..

well you have a very rare build indeed. the 8000 series never were released to public and the 8990 is a dual gpu version of a gpu that was never released to public. that's a 1 in 1 million gpu.

having said that, the 8990 was essentially a rebrand of the 7990 with better ram I think maybe higher clocks.

first off enabling the second gpu. go to amd.com and download the latest driver. before installing, uninstall the old one. once its installed go in the settings of catalyst control center and enable crossfireX.

secondly temps.

while the 8990 (7990) was a very hot running card the cooler included should be able to keep both gpu's under 95C. alienware cases have strange airflow channels. make sure all plastic housings are in place and that all fans work on the PC. this will keep good airflow over the card and help lower those temps. if that dosent help much you may have to take the card out and really blow out the dust directly on the gpu cooler. I had to disassemble the cooler from cards before to properly clean them.
