Not detecting wifi

My laptop is not detecting any wireless signals.. neither mine nor my neighbours'.. its just showing a red cross on the wifi symbol..
I have already uninstalled and then reinstalled the drivers.. i changed the ssid and password... also i have disabled and then enabled the tcp settings through cmd but nothing worked... plz do let me know if u have any solution.... thnkx

Red x usually means the wifi is turned off or not working properly enough for it to be enabled.
