Update: I went ahead and ordered this combo: Motorola Surfboard SB6141 modem and Asus RT-N66U router. Various people on forums have suggested it for this issue, and just better overall quality , so I'm hoping this will solve it. It shouldn't be overkill since I'm into computer science and need to play around with advanced networking features anyway. If for some reason this setup shouldn't work for port forwarding for two xbox ones and just with comcast in general, please post to let me know... But, as I said earlier, the research I've done since asking this question seems to point towards this setup working for my needs.
Hi, so we have a Zyxel nbg-418n router that came free with our comcast sign up deal a year or two ago. It has been pretty good, except on Xbox live, our NAT setting has always been moderate or strict. Just the other day, I found out how to port forward so that my nat setting could be open for my xbox one. The problem is that I can only forward all the ports for one xbox - the router supposedly doesn't have room for all the rules if I do it for each one.
... So the questions are:
1.) Can I alternate open ports between my brother's xbox and my Xbox? Like, one of them to me, one to him... Would that make it work just as well?
2.) is there any particular router you would recommend that could definitely support more port forwarding rules?
Thanks in advance
