hello, recently bought SSD (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00S9Q9VS4?ref_=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_2) and installed it easy peasy. Its working well with existing HD but now i have problem with my GPU. i had to remove it to have better access and when I put it back into slot and tried games or watch movie or something, PC kept crashing, monitor goes blank and PC is still running. i tried to calulate my power usage with various online pages and its always aroung 450, My power Supply is MS pro 550 W atx p4. I checked every power connector and disconnected my HD with only SSD connected. PC boot fast, but problem with GPU persists. Video card is Nvidia geforce gtx 560 and it has one power 6 pin connector direct form PS and one 6 pin connector extended from part which power SSD. Prior to installing SSD, both GPU and old HD shared this line of power cables. I just dont get it whats wrong. Did i mess something up? What additional information do you need? All temperatures are normal.

Solution
It should all be there. I formatted dozens of different laptops and PCs, installed windows first ofcourse, then WLAN driver, graphics driver and other crap. I format my PC twice or three times a year for 10 years now. Never had this kind of problem.

All went to crap when i tried new RAM ( http://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/memory/fury ), and PC didnt want to start. i.e. it went to reboot loop. Put old RAM back in and installed new SSD and windows on it and at first GPU was fine, i even played game (World of Warships) for 10 minutes to try new SSD speed and it was fine.

First I noticed youtube was acting funny (this was all in span of 1 hours or so when I first installed windows). When i played video, at random time, PC made screech...
You don't really want your SSD and gpu in the same lead if it's avoidable. SSDs are very voltage/current sensitive, whereas a hdd being mechanical, isn't.

Psus are designed around specifics, so the wires used from pcie 6 pin are bigger Guage than what supplies peripherals, there's only 1 connector, etc. Your peripheral leads connectors aren't designed for pcie use, being much lower wattage rated. A standard molex is good for 40w, a pcie 6pin is 75w

All this adds up to not the best idea, but it'll work in a pinch. What I believe your current issue could be is just a simple need to reseat your gpu.

default connection was: one 6 pin connector to GPU direct from PSU, and one shared power cord with 6 pin connector connected to GPU and branched molex with sata adpater connected to old HD. Never had problems. Now i have that branch connected to new SSD and old HD is connected direct from PSU with own molex to sata dapter. I guess i could try and switch power cords of SSD and HD and see what happens. But i think i tried disconnecting old HD and use that power cable to connect SSD, so GPU didnt share power cord and still had problems. I pulled GPU out several times and disconnected and reconnected all cables, and still nothing. Only thing i havent done is tried it on different computer. But current situations boggles me. It should work

I tried newest driver and I tried older versions and now monitor/PC/GPU crashes when I open browser. But I noticed strangest thing, not sure if it means anything, one 6 pin connector looks odd, the black one

other one looks fine, thats is the one direct from PSU.

black one has 2 wires going into one pin, leaving one pin empty ( picture not showing? ). I asked friend and he said its normal. so ignore it. GPU still not working . I guess i will have to try it on different PC.

Pcie 6 pin is honestly a little misleading. It's in reality only 5 pin. Top row is yellow 12v/blank/yellow 12v. The bottom row is black ground/black or brown sensor (ground) /black ground. If the plug is missing a yellow wire in the middle, that's totally ok.

still nothing. WHen I enter reliability history, under critical events, there is Video hardware error. And when I click it says this:

That's a driver error or conflict somewhere.

You can try this, might help. If not then I'd use
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Follow the directions for a safe mode driver uninstall, download a new current set of drivers, at install choose 'custom' not express, check the option box for a clean install.

It's more than likely a conflict error in your registry that's not being resolved with new driver updates or with a Windows update throwing the drivers in a loop.

I tried removing drivers like you said and installed newest possible, several times. I tried with new windows on different HD, didnt work. I didnt try that first link you gave me with adjusting Timeout Detection and Recovery registry value.

I Googled that error code and pretty much came back with the same thing, driver compatability. Whether this is due to something else, like malware or even fonts is unclear, but that error is drivers not power related. Are all your motherboard, USB, pcie controller etc drivers, bios up to date? It may be that the new drivers are looking for something somewhere else that should be there, and not finding it.

First I noticed youtube was acting funny (this was all in span of 1 hours or so when I first installed windows). When i played video, at random time, PC made screech noise and video started buffering, but it continued. That never happend to me before. And then I tried Fallout 4. Game ran fine before computer "upgrade", but now game loaded, I played a minute or so, and GPU crashed for first time. I was, ok, that never happened before, wtf. And then started crashing when playing youtube or browsing, at random. But i could still watch tv shows or movies in BSPlayer, which was odd.

And then started crashig when watched something in BSPlayer so I took GPU out and put some old GPU in there which doesnt use extra power cables.

Maybe I am missing something and solution is quite simple. But at this point and i have no idea what else to do except to try my GPU with some other PC. I'm going tommorow to a friend to test it.
