I have a Benq XL 2411Z and set the refresh rate to 144hz. Now when I play games I don't really notice any difference to when I still only had my 60hz monitor but everyone keeps saying how much better 120/144hz feel. When I watch HD videos of CSGO for example, they look much smoother compared to when I play the game (I get 200 fps+). Not sure if that's an indicator.

Can I check somehow whether I indeed get the 144hz or if any of my settings are false? Or must everything be alright when the control panel says '144hz'?

I did this ufo test (http://www.testufo.com/#test=framerates) and it shows 144hz but it also keeps saying "MAJOR STUTTERING" every few seconds and asks to close all tabs and programs. The stuttering is less frequent when I close everything and use Chrome, but it still won't be gone completely. Does this have to do with anything?

Download and use Frap's built-in fps counter http://www.fraps.com/

You'll notice 120/144Hz when your fps are high enough or close to, it will be like gliding on glass. Though some people i've spoken to do dislike that glide feel but i love it. All depends on the game and your setup if you can push those fps. Games not requiring overkill machines to reach such highs like L4D and CSGO are good testers. CSGO though, just remember to set fps_max to 0 or 999.
