Question Not Getting a Beep Code on startup and won't shut down

I just built my first pc, watched tutorials and followed everything to the letter but when I power up I get no beep code and no signal from my gpu to the monitor. When I try it shut it down, i have to power down the power supply. What could possibly be the problem?

most computers do not have a buzzer/speaker onboard and must be connected to beep.
