Just upgraded from 970 to 2080 ti, but still kept i5-6600k and I'm getting a wide range of fps in Quake Champions, even on low settings. Does this mean I might as well upgrade my 4 year old CPU to the i7-9700k?

i5 6600k could very well be a bottleneck. Make sure the resolution scale is at 100, when it's at max you're basically running the game in 4k. This fucks up your framerate, especially if you don't have much RAM.

Running on 2560x1440 144hz, 16 GB RAM. fps is all over the place.
