not getting into windows unless I have 800mhz

I have the following parts:

GA-M68SM-S2L, previously amd 4800+ dual core cpu
I updated bios and was able to boot with x4 955 cpu.
But it's stuck with 800mhz

If I try to disable cool and quiet, or oc to stock 3200mhz I'm not able to boot into windows.

First question: is it then better to have the dual core, or the x4 955 @800mhz?
Second question, is there any way to get the x4 955 to performe somewhat more optimal?

Windows starts to boot, but then I get signal loss on my monitor, and neither the keyboard or mouse is working. So its crashing on windows load unless I run @800mhz

this sounds like the CPU is either over heating or its a power supply problem.

check the settings in bios for cpu core if it unlock all of them or it is set as default also the bios upgrade was ok or does it fail you might try to redo it .

I have the F9G Bios, I have a 550w psu, corsair something so its not a psu problem... Its a am3 cpu stuffed in a am2+ motherboard problem I think :/
Temps are also fine, I'm able to set the v.core to 1.325 without any hassles. But as soon as I disable the cool and quite, or try to change the multiplier from auto (x4) to something higher - I post fine, windows starts to load, then I "crash" xD

if you have the 125 watts cpu version it is not supported from this board check maker link .

it doesn't matter if you have a 550W or 1000W, PSU's become defective all the time so i wouldn't rule it out when troubleshooting

damn, both my x4 955's are 125w, guess I'll switch back to the x2 4800+ then, because dual core 2.5ghz gotta be better than 800mhz quad?

no it is on the board settings ,
