I haven't got my copy of windows 10 yet.. i have reserved and my laptop is powerful enough to run one. They said you need to wait in line for your copy, but my friends have already got them. Me and my friends house weren't even that far. Help!

How does the upgrade actually work? Does a pop up show up in your notification center or something? Or you should manually update through Settings > Update & Recovery? I really don't understand.... All my friends have got them.. I use windows 8.1 btw. Thanks for your help!

The media creation thing is NOT necessarily a clean install. You can use that as a direct upgrade from 7 or 8.1.
I've done it on the two machines I've upgraded so far.

Download that tool
Run it. You must be on an Admin account
It will give you options of what to do.
Upgrade this PC now, download an ISO file, create a USB...

Be patient. Not everyone gets it at the same time. Not even every machine in the same house.

how is it not ready ??? do they have it or not ?? whats up with that ?? cant understand no one finds this suspect to stat with ??

'' hay, we got windows 10 but we will let you know if or when you can have it or not ? do they need to pull your data first review it and then decide if your worthy ???

what a joke

upgrade to 10 ? yes/no -- yes -- download and install - reboot - you now got 10

why do you need to wait ?? what are they doing to this to be necessary ?? just don't add up at all

All you have to do is download the media creation tool from microsoft's website and select upgrade this computer now. It will automatically download windows 10 without any wait. You can also download the iso file and burn that to a disc and upgrade your computer.

Okay but isn't using the media creation tool not "Clean Install"?? They said unclean installs aren't safe... Also i don't know how to use that tool. Holy hell, even my neighbour has upgraded to windows 10... ffs microsoft....

Waait! wait, i checked windows update just now (the one in the control panel) and it said "You're set to automatically install updates" instead of "Windows 10 upgrade reserved" like in here : http://www.howtogeek.com/218856/how-do-you-disable-the-get-windows-10-icon-shown-in-the-notification-tray/

Does that mean that i haven't reserved my windows 10 yet? I know i did, but i did make the "get windows 10" app show via using the win10fix app. I did have the updates required for the app to show at that time, but it didn't show, so i downloaded and used the win10fix app. So i haven't reserved then?

Click on the taskbar notification thing.
What does it say?

Open the Notification thing.
Top left, there are 3 bars.
Click that, and select View Confirmation
It will tell you the status for that PC.
