Not reading hard drive

My computer is currently not booting, I'm fairly computer ignorant but none of my sata ports I guess are reading and I just bought new cables and it's still not working, my motherboard is an as rock xtreme 74

Is the HDD spinning up?

Have you tried a different power connector?

Have you tried the HDD in another computer? Is it properly recognized there?
I'd recommend you to try getting the drive detected by resetting BIOS using one of these methods, see if that will help. Here's a tutorial: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
Another thing you should check up on is the mobo's firmware/BIOS, make sure you have updated that as well.
However, if the HDD is not spinning, then it's most probably dead.
