Not receiving Windows 10 reservation notice

Hello, fellow tech enthusiasts. I saw that Microsoft is letting Windows 7 and 8.1 users reserve a copy of Windows 10 and all you had to do was to check your taskbar and find the little Windows logo and it will prompt you to do so. In my taskbar, I do not see any such Windows logo. I googled it and apparently you have to download the latest update. Since my automatic updates are on, I figured that it would have updated my Windows already, but I turned my PC off and there was an update. I went like, "Oh, that must be the update lol," and I waited for it to update itself (man it takes a while) and booted my PC up. When I got to my home screen, I went to my taskbar, expecting that little Windows logo to be there. However, it was still not there. Whut. Microsoft is only letting us Windows 7 and 8.1 users to reserve a copy of Windows 10 for a limited time, so I really want to get it because I really feel that Microsoft has build another "Windows 7" OS, in the sense that it is revolutionary and is good. Thank you for all the help I will (hopefully) receive. 😀

No big deal. 1 out of my 4 PC's here did not get that notification icon.

But that means nothing. That 'reserve' is simply marketing and to build hype around the July 29 release.
They're not going to 'run out'.

"Can I get my free Windows 10 upgrade even if I didn’t reserve?

Yes. The easiest way to get the free upgrade is to reserve, but you can upgrade even if you don’t reserve.

Once Windows 10 is available, we’ll begin notifying devices that their free upgrade is available. Just open the Get Windows 10 app to schedule your upgrade. Note: Some notifications will go out as soon as Windows 10 is available; others may go out in the weeks or months following."

Weeks or Months? How about NO! How about NOW! $120 for W7 64 and fully updated and I may have to wait weeks or months? .....

They are looking to upgrade a potential billion devices. Billion with a "B".
Not everyone gets to be first.

If you use this, be sure to run setup.exe rather than booting off the disk - if you boot off the disk, it won't activate, and you'll have to reinstall 7/8 then upgrade normally.

Once you've upgraded that device normally once, then you can boot off the disk.

That's a thousand million then, in the more logical long-scale. A billion is a million million etc...

In the vast majority of the world, a billion is 10^9.
