OK, I've looked. No one seems to recommend anything I've seen.

So, Are there any that you would suggest NOT buying.

Thoughts on refurbished?

I'm cheap and looking at the 17/18" under $800

go to <A HREF="http://newegg.com" target="_new">http://newegg.com</A> and look at the lcd's there, they have viewsonics @ decent prices and brand new...
IE:VE800 is under $800 us, the vx800 is $825, both are 18"

Well, I wouldn't recommend a ViewSonic VX500. You pay extra for the speakers and microphone, but the speakers are tinny and they're actually giving me a headache. Also, they advertise their MVA display, but I think the color washes out real quick when you're viewing off center. I also have a Dell 19" made by Samsung, and I think I would just buy Samsung monitors now.

You can get a 17" Samsung 760vTFT for $550 from buy.com right now with free shipping. Slightly older monitor, but I love mine, I use it for my gaming with no complaints.
