Not sure how to go at this

Hey guys, I'm not sure what I need to do, but I reused my old hard drive for my new build, and I want to use it as a secondary drive, as the OS is installed on the SSD. Is it as simple as formatting the old drive and just plugging it in? Do I need to do anything else? Also how would I delete the recovery partition? This is from an HP desktop.

Yes, if there is nothing on the drive that you want to keep, just reformat it.

To repartition the drive, go to Help and Support, type "repartition drive" in the search box, then follow the instructions.

it won't let me delete the recovery partition, it says "Windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk", should I format it first?
