Don't have alot of free time except at night and enjoy sitting on the couch with my wife I was wondering if its possible to run my desktop and use my laptop as a monitor so I can play my games on the couch thank you if you all can help

No, you cannot use your laptop as a monitor unless the manufacturer has gave it the functunality to.

Have a look into 'Miracast'. It's not something I've done but it is basically HDMI over WiFi and it's supported by Win 10. So you'd need to have Win 10 on both I guess and have hardware that supports it but it's worth having a go. Unless I've misunderstood it.
