Not sure if lower res monitor or second 980

Hey guys,

I've been thinking. I have a Samsung 28 inch 4k monitor at the moment with a single gtx 980. I'm not sure whether to get a second 980 or just get a lower res monitor of equal value. I usually just play Gta 5 but play other fps as well. I'm aiming for around 60fps or higher.

Thanks in advance

4K requires the GPU to render 4 times as many pixels and texels per frame as at 1080p. Naturally frame rates will drop accordingly. It usually takes (at least) two strong cards to run that rez monitor at 60 fps or better. The easy out would be to downgrade the monitor to 1080p. Adding a 2nd GTX 980 might get you to 60 fps and better depending on the game and the in-game settings. But you would need a board that does SLI at x8, x8 lanes or better, and a high quality 750W PSU or better. And of course a CPU that can keep up.
