Hello so a few months ago I was on this forum discussing computer components so I could build my own. However at the time it turned out I didn't have enough money to afford it, and still don't...

So on that note, I'm still technically new to this whole computer building thing and am currently concerned about how quickly my parts list may become obsolete, I know almost certainly I will have the money for this computer in about 4 or 5 months time, however I'm not sure if the build will be outdated or not by then?

honestly there is not much point in pricing it out till you are ready to buy cause pricing is always going up and down. heres a bit of a better build for less but there are deals that apply right now so really hard to say.

i would suggest getting just the core components and slowly add to them over time. no need to wait and save 2 grand when you could have a good setup running for a grand without sacrificing performance.

How much do you have? you could build a computer for half of that if you cut back a few things and still rock out games. I built the one on my sig for $1300 CDN, with taxes and I can max BF3 and BF4 should run pretty good on it to.

That system won't be outdated, as much as newer stuff will be just around the corner in that time. of course new stuff is always just around the corner.

Right now I have nothing, and won't have anything for about 4 or 5 months, but after that I'll have basically however much I want. So disregarding the price what do you guys think about the build in general? I've had a couple people question the GPU, followed by them recommending an Nvidia one.

i would personally go with an amd gpu at the moment. i have an nvidia but the 280x pretty much is a 7970 so might as well go with that. within the next 5 months there probably wont be any new series releases so what is out now will probably go down in price a little bit. its a good choice.

the gpu you chose is very overpriced. i have seen 7970's in canada for $230. other than that its a good build. it all just comes down to price/performance.

As far as the GPU I picked, the only reason I picked that one is because it seems to be the more highly recommended brand of that particular GPU, and I want quality.

Oh also what do you think about the processor? I have a friend who insists I should get an i7 instead of an i5, but I really don't see why? I mean an i7 would be more powerful than an i5 I would assume but at the same time the i5-4670K 3.4GHz is substantially better than my current AMD Athlon II X2 215.

Also technically my build isn't really $2158.95 immediately, because I could go without the CPU Cooler, SSD, Case Fans, Monitors, Mouse, Speakers, and Headset for a little while, which drops the price down to $1380.84, which would be a whole $778.11 I won't have to spend right away.

with a 4670k you would lose out on a couple frames but if its just for gaming that is a great processor.

sapphire is not the best vendor of graphics cards.. asus, gigabyte or msi are at the top for gpu vendors. 90% of the time the pcb and everything else except for the cooler are the same so the biggest difference between vendors are support and cooling. sapphire isnt bad though.
