Not sure if this is a PSU issue or video card issue or if my whole PC is on its last leg?

I've had a string of bad luck lately with my PC. Firstly, it started with my video card not being recognized by my computer anymore. I tried the card in another PC and it didn't seem to work so I thought it had been 4-5 years since I upgraded my card its probably time for an upgrade. Second, I seemed to have some corrupt files when I did a /sfc scannow. I clean reinstalled windows and the scan is clean now.

I just got my new card today, and it is still not being recognized by my computer. I read that it might be a BIOS issue, but also read you don't want to just update your BIOS frequently since it can be a tad risky. One of the weirdest things is my motherboard video works and I get an image with video card plugged into the mother board, but when I plug PSU pins to the graphics card, the motherboard image ceases to work. I've tried reinstalling my drivers, making sure the card is secure/plugged in correctly and fitted. Made sure my adapters work for my monitor to my card etc.. Under system information it's all green..I'm pretty lost 🙁

Are you plugging in the video card with no power adapters to the card and then plugging in the power adapters while the computer is on? Never install or plug in power to components with the computer running. Remove the video card from the system, do a BIOS update on the motherboard. Shut down the computer, plug in the card with all power leads to the card, plug in the video cable to the card, turn on the computer and see if it works.

No I'm making sure the power is off before fiddling with the card. I tried updating the BIOS last night a couple of times, but when I try to flash update it I choose the flashdrive to detect the ROM file then the screen goes black and then I can't choose anything. I'm thinking my motherboard may be corrupted, just from reading similar threads.

No I'm making sure the power is off before fiddling with the card. I tried updating the BIOS last night a couple of times, but when I try to flash update it I choose the flashdrive to detect the ROM file then the screen goes black and then I can't choose anything. I'm thinking my motherboard may be corrupted, just from reading similar threads.

See if ASRock support can help you with the BIOS issue. Updating the BIOS can help with video card issues.

A couple things to note about updating a BIOS. First, you need a bootable device, NOT a USB flash drive with an .exe file on it but rather a USB formatted with MS-DOS or Free-DOS on it, and then the .exe for the BIOS update added to that. Secondly, not all BIOS will let you jump straight to the newest version. You may need to work your way up the ladder as it were.

First things first. Power down, unplug, remove GPU. Boot into BIOS to see what version you have. Check to see if there even is an update available. Next, create a bootable USB flash drive and add the BIOS version(s) you want to upgrade to. IMPORTANT Do not power down the device during BIOS update, this will brick the motherboard. While you are in the BIOS, either before or after updates, makes sure the setting for "primary video" is not turned off for PCIE (i.e. "on-board video only"). Once you are satisfied with the BIOS. Power down, unplug, install card, connect 6 or 8-pin power if needed, reboot machine.

Supposedly it is a rare issue with a black screen after BIOS and one of the threads mentioned that I could try a blind flash BIOS that might potentially fix it, but I could also pick a wrong option during the process since I can't see what I'm choosing. My motherboard is almost 6 years old, so I think I just may order a new one. I appreciate the help man

Appreciate the response, I tried this as well. There is an update for BIOS, but when I select anything the screen goes black, but the system keeps running, so I have no idea what option I am choosing.

The BIOS in this motherboard can be updated without a bootable drive, you just need to provide the file to the BIOS on a drive. http://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSIG.asp?cat=BIOS7 In this case, you don't need a bootable drive.
