Question Not sure if which PCI slot I use matters with my network card

does the placement of my network card matter in my pc? I currently have it on the highest pci lane on my motherboard, but its right on top of the graphics card and I just think it would be more aesthetically pleasing if it were at the bottom most lane. I was just wondering if doing this would hinder my network performance.

In general....I don't think it will matter.
I've heard/read that putting cards closest to the CPU allows them to perform better.....and it may be true but I've not noticed this.

Nope, no performance hit.

Go with aesthetic and improved ventilation. (leave empty slot between 2 occupied slots if able).
