Not sure if x32 or x64

I have an Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q8400
(4M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB). If you watch here (http://ark.intel.com/products/38512/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q8400-4M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB) it says that it support x64 systems. When i bought my pc though it had Vista x32 and also it was when Windows 7 were out so i had free update to 7 and it was also x32. Also when i tried to install Windows 8 i accidentlly chose x64 and it said cannot install(or after the installation said cannot run im not quite sure and don't remember). So plz can anyone help?

The CPU(Q8400) does have a Date width of 64bit. it may be that The OS you have is just 32 bit

Are you trying to upgrade from 7 to 8? You can't upgrade from 7(32bit) to 8(64bit). You have to do a clean install.

no., Intel has not launched a desktop 32bit CPU since the Pentium 4 ( prescott). Yours is 64bit

Often OEM PC shops will sell 32bit only version of Windows 7 home premium on the PCs they sell. Usually the're refurbished.

because one is hardware, the other is software.
You can run 32bit software on 64bit hardware, but not the other way around.
