Hello,
Can someone please tell me if it would be worth while to upgrade my processor from an AMD Athlon 64x2 5000+ specs out at 2.6 ghz, 2 x 512 kb L2 cache, 2000mhz bus to a AMD Phenom X3 8750 Black Edition Toliman 2.4GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Triple-Core Processor -
Kindest regards,
Tom

In my opinion no...

Have you checked to see if your MOBO will support AM3 with a BIOS update? You would be better suited picking up the Phenom II or Athlon II over the original Phenom's. You can pick up the Athlon II X4 620 for $99, which is a great CPU of the price.

Maybe this will help. As I'm not sure perhaps someone can tell me if it will take a Phenom II
ECS MCP61-P AM2 Motherboard
Also if it can take one, which Phenom II would be best
Kindest regards,
Tom

I looked but couldn't find a bios update specifically for the MB you have. I know that many AM2 boards can be flashed but again couldn't find one for yours. Sry 🙁 Is your PC an HP or a gateway? You might try their websites to see if there is an update for your bios listed under a specific model. gl
