notebook hard disk replacement

Hello,
how to upgrade a gateway mt6451 notebook internal pata hard disk, to a sata internal ssd hard drive? iv`e noticed an area only large enough for the pata! so what can i do short of external drive,that would render my notebook useless as a portable lap top.

Unless going with a SATA SSD (Not much in the way of slection for PATA SSDs), why the need for a SATA HHD??
Normally there is not enough space in the laptop HDD bay for drive + converter.
