Notebook keyboards how do they work?

Hello fellow forum members. Can someone please explain to me how do laptop keyboards work. Is the CPU polling at 1000hz like USB or is it like a PS/2 keyboard interrupting the CPU every keystroke (witch I prefer) or does it work some other way? Thanks

In my experience, most laptop keyboards are connected through an internal PS/2 interface. I'm sure there could be exceptions, but it's hard for me to imagine why.
