Question Notepad not opening clean 'page'

For some reason, when I click on my notepad shortcut, whether it's the shortcut on the desktop, or in shortcut bar, or in the app itself, it no longer opens a clean page. It opens the last notepad I had been working on....one that had been saved. I actually deleted several of them, and still the problem persists. I've restarted a couple of times and that doesn't change anything. I didn't manually change anything, but obviously something is changed! help!
windows 10 Home (x64) Version 2009 (build 22621.2428) (HP Laptop)
2.10 gigahertz AMD Ryzen 5 3500U

disregard! I got it fixed. Tried to delete this thread and didn't see where I could delete it! So sorry!

You could try these -

1. Clear the recent files history in Notepad:
- Open Notepad.
- Click on "File" and then click on "Open Recent."
- At the bottom of the list, click on "Clear Recent File List."

2. Reset Notepad to its default settings:
- Press the Windows key + R to open the Run window.
- Type "notepad.exe" and press Enter.
- In Notepad, click on "File" and then click on "Exit."
- Reopen Notepad and see if the issue is resolved.

I don't have an "open recent" in the file tab....just an "open"

ok, everything is 'fixed'....I noted the 'gear' icon out to the top right of a notepad, clicked on that and changed some settings and voila', it's back to normal. Sorry I bothered anybody. I should have done this to begin with!
