Nothing but an SSD

I have built computers for a little while now and have decided to build myself a small, tight LAN PC.

My only real question is could I use just an SSD (500GB or a few small ones in RAID) for my entire system, instead of the SSD + HDD combo? I always hear things about SSD's getting "worn out" from too much use, but HDD can be seriously damaged by too much bumping and moving (which would happen to the LAN PC).

I am having trouble finding anything conclusive on the "Interwebs," so any help is greatly appreciated.

I have moved on from SSD+HDD, but only because I'm at terabytes, lol. If you got the money and don't really use a lot of space, I'd go for it and have super fast speed no matter where you put your stuff :)

Since price is not an issue, you should get the 850 pro, it is like the most reliable and durable SSD on the market with 10 year warranty. With the new 3D V-Nand tech, it is much durable. So if you want to have a SSD for a long time, you should give that one a try. Although I haven't reached 10 years, so I can't tell you if that's how long it'll actually last, lol. I have them and they are certainly fast and so far there hasn't been a failure of any kind.

Sounds good. Maybe Ill just keep an eye out for deals on em.

Would it be better to maybe get a few smaller, cheaper SSD's and put them in RAID? I've had pretty great luck with kingston and I havnt heard anything bad about crucial drives.

There are other ones too for Samsung if you want to use them, they're cheaper, but the 850 pro is the only one that has the 3D V-Nand tech that enhances it's endurance.

If you wanna compare SSDs, here is a nice site for them.
