hello all,
it may sound silly to ask this question. i do not know if this is the right
place to post this question. maybe you can direct me if needed.
this is a PIV 2.4Ghz, GA-81r2300 motherbord with hyperthreading
capabilities, 40GB HD, AGP graphic Card, 256MB memory.
when i start my computer, nothing shows up on my screen, no BIOS, no beeps,
nothing at all. what is likely to be the problem? a Hw or a Sw problem? i am
a newbie. kindly advise

When you push the power button, does the power supply fan come on? Any
lights? If the answer is "no", then you need to start troubleshooting
by replacing the power supply.

If the computer comes on when you push the power button, lights come on,
but you just can't see anything, then you need to start troubleshooting
video:

a. Make sure the cable between the monitor and computer has no bent pins
and the connection is snug.

b. If you connect the computer to a different (known-working) monitor,
can you see anything? If yes, then you know the issue is with your
original monitor. If no, then the issue is with your computer's video
card.

c. To troubleshoot the video card, swap it out for a known-working one.
If you still don't get video, you know the problem is with the
motherboard and it will need to be replaced.
