If Windows 2000 pro is NT5, shouldn't XP pro be NT6?
the fact that XP shows up as NT5.1 makes me feel windows XP is a service pack for 2000 pro and not an entirely new OS. Of coarse there are so many features in XP over 2000 pro I can understand it being sold as its own OS. But since it has so many new features why don't they just call it NT6?
It'd certainly round out a few things, IE6 and NT6......and I'm sure there are other things with version 6
Oh well it just seemed weird to me I thought I'd see what you guys thought.

It's not called NT6 because the kernel has not been significantly redesigned. The kernel is the base of the operating system that controls all file and memory operations.
