NT4 -> NT4 trust problems

We have an existing NT4 domain that we need to set a trust up with. Our PDC is a recently promoted BDC, and we are trying to establish the trust from there. When we go to set up the trust, an error comes up that it cannot locate the domain controller. We have set up the WINS server to have all of the correct IP's/servers of each of the domains, and the LMHOSTS files are all populated OK.....

Any ideas?

Immediately after an unsuccessful attempt at
creating a trust relationship open a dos prompt
and run nbtstat -c, verify at least the following
are in the cache without conflict: domain names
1b, 1c and computer names 00, 03, 20 of course
they should be pointing towards the PDC of the
remote domain. If everything checks out then
something is blocking the necessary netbios traffic
ie personal firewall, hardware firewall, router or
Anti-virus with firewall feature turned on.

Well, it turned out to be a couple of things. First there was a corrupt and old WINS database, and then the DNS server had some bad entries...

It's all good now. Thanks!
