I have a Windows NT Server 4.0 (SP6) and execute ntbackup by AT command. In the Event Log I received error message:
Source: NTBackup
ID: 8001
End Backup of <source> Verify: Off Mode: Append Type: Normal.

What's a problem?
Is my backup sessions finished normally or not?

Michael -

Usually, 8001 simply signifies that the backup is complete.

To ensure that backups are running, you can attempt a test restore,
redirecting it to an alternate location.

If your test restore proves your backups are failing, ask these questions:

Is 8001 the only event ID for NTBackup? If so, this can indicate the
absence of your temp directory, ie: C:\temp. If it
does not exist, create it, and try the backup again

Is the 8001 accompanied by 8017 or 8019 or both? This could be because
there was some other backup software
installed at another time, and the tape driver which it used is still
present, even thought the software itseld has
been uninstalled. You can use RegEdit to search the registry for info
regarding your old software, such as Veritas,
and make the necessary removals. After exporting the entries for backup
purposes of course.

Hope this helps,
