The title says it all. My old Computer BlueScreened two months ago due to the ntfs.sys file being corrupted and I wish to get files off the old drive. I got a usb hard drive adapter yesterday and wanted to get them out but when I plugged it in to my new computer it bluescreens once more. A friend of mine told me that the only way to save the drive is to format it but I don't wan't to lose literal years worth of work and I hope you guys could help me.

Connect the usb adapter/old HDD to the new computer when the new computer is already on & running.
It sounds like you had it attached to the new computer and then turned it on which then tried to boot from the OLD HDD and Bluescreened on you.
