Microsoft explicitly did not put any NTFS support into Win95/98/98se/ME for one main reason, NTFS is for security purposes! If any OS could read info from an NTFS drive, what would be the purpose behind NTFS in the first place?? If someone created a program to allow Windows 9x + to read NTFS, I am sure Microsoft would quickly squash them, or buy the company or rights to stop it.

Go to http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/ntfswin98.shtml to download a free read-only version of a Win98 filesystem driver for NTFS or purchase a read-write version. They also offer versions that run from DOS so you can examine your NTFS disk from a boot floppy. Remember that security is enforced by the operating system, not the filesystem itself. If you have physical access to the machine, you can always install a parallel version of WinNT on the drive and do whatever you want.
