Hey guys,
I've been having a problem since I upgraded my machine and thusly was forced to change to Windows 7.
I enjoy gaming, and when you use a lot of shortcuts and hot keys, num lock among them, it can really hamper what is going on and even lead to severely undesired problems.
I am running a full sized keyboard, and randomly when I press num lock, it will convert half my keyboard into the num pad as if I were running on a laptop. There are easy work arounds, I know but please read on.
I have spent the past few months in mild annoyance with this problem, transcribed half of a hand written paper before looking at the screen to double check and half the text was illegable. I have checked various tech sources and found nothing relating to what I seek.
What I am trying to find is a way of disabling windows from even recognizing the laptop keyboard format. I want to be able to press num lock and type as normal, use the num pad as directional keys when it is off, and turn it on for accounting or other numerical needs that the number bar doesn't fit. I want num lock to affect the number pad only, like it should on a full keyboard.
I will try to provide more information regarding this issue to help.
The keyboard format change happens randomly, I'll be using Word, or playing Atlantica Online or World of Warcraft, and the keyboard stops responding as it did a few seconds before.
I am running Win7 Ult Edition.
The keyboard is a USB Dynex brand, no drivers available for it. (at elast that I've been able to find)
I have tried to solve using the language/keyboard subsection of the control panel, to no avail.
If any more info is needed please let me know, this is getting agravating having to close down all my work or have people wait for me to reboot to fix the problem.
