[SOLVED] numpad "." button not working but "del" is?

the "." and "del" functions on my keyboard share the same button, however the "." has randomly stopped working.

I know it isn't a hardware issue and the button isn't broken as the "del" function still works fine.

Can anyone help? im pretty stumped.

You may have changed keyboard settings inadvertently.
Make sure you haven't switch the Num Lock key on your keyboard..

switching the Num Lock is what allows me to use the "del" function... hence how i know it isn't broken.

So when you press the Num Lock key the "Del" button works but when you press it again the "." does not work.
That could be cause by a program, plugins or drivers. Did you installed any app around the time the issue started?

Plug your keyboard into another computer and see if it still has the same issue, if it does then somehow there is something wrong with the keyboard. If it works like normal then there is an issue with your computer and you will have to narrow it down like Jojesa said.

Not to the best of my knowledge... tried updating drivers, not too sure how to go about checking plug-ins

Go to the Device Manager.
Expand Keyboards.
Under Keyboards, right click any device listed and click Uninstall device.
Reboot.
