I had missed this bit of news but was posted <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=176822#176822" target="_new">here</A> in the CPU forum a while back.

NV has created the first real time hardware accelerated movie rendering software.

Yet another industry first.

Seriously now, are you on Nvidia's payroll? I just read three threads, and all of them where started by you, advertising Nvidia.

I mean, I can understand your attidute if you are on their payroll, or if you own a few thousands stocks of them or something. That would make sense! If that's not the case though, then I really can not understand you!

LOL I wish I'd bought NV stock when I knew it was prime. Alas, I didnt.

Theres just been alot of good NV news lately... and I WISH I was getting paid.

If you know anyone that can hook me up with NV marketing.. let me know. :wink:

Exactly how much better has ati done over NVIDIA in the last 2 years (stock price wise) ???? 5 times better 10 times better. Good chance you would have made more money shorting NVIDIA. there is no way in hell NVIDIA has seen the gains ati as in the last 2 years.

I think NVIDIA was in its prime 2 and 1/2 years ago so yeah Einstein it would have been somewhat funny if you had bought NVIDIA in it's prime. Being as such a great forward looking thinker you are.

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

Nv's prime was indeed 2.5 years ago, and recent performance has been somewhat lackluster to say the least, Ati's recent gains have been pretty good and now stands at it's all-time highs for valuation (nV is about 1/3 it's former value);

Things look even better for ATI if you switch to the 2yr or 1 yr chart for the timeframes most people are talking about.

Aside from the politics of the world's biggest Nvidia-lover bringing this up on the board (that's you kinney :wink: ), as a 3d digital artist, I gotta say... this sounds like a really nifty feature.

On a side note, one of the guys in the article (Chris Bond of Frantic Films) is the fella who tought me how to use 3d Studio R4 back in '94.

Back then you had to use it in DOS mode, before 3dsMAX came out (the windows version). If you wanted to tweak a texture, you'd have to shut down, reboot into windows, open photoshop (which crashed every 4 minutes by itself), change the texture, shut down, reboot into DOS, start 3ds R4... etc.

Pentium 133 machines with 64 megs of RAM as I recall. Jesus christ, I'm glad computers have advanced as far as they have...

Oh I agree, if you look at <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=395727#395727" target="_new">my post</A> a while back I even mentioned that I'd like to get it with two scoops!

I think this will be a good feature, I'd like to see more about the performance gains across platforms. I'm sure digit-life will have something soon after they get their hands on it.
