NV40 and R420 not until Spring '04?

According to THIS article from X-bit Labs it appears that the NV40 won't arrive likely until the Spring of '04. They say that the R420 will also likely not make an appearance before the end of the year (but are less certain about that). I assume the RV380 would match/follow that date/timeframe.

Sad. I was kinda hoping for a new card by the time X-mas hit. I guess I'll have to wait for tax return season again! Oh well 1 year with the R9600P isn't that long I Guess.

my full upgrade session is always 2 years.
I bought my new pc last november 2002, and my overhaul next upgrade will be in NOV/DEC 2004 (for sure). Don't know what newer technological advancements will arrive, i'm pretty excited.

Your unhappy with a Radeon 9600 Pro??? I still love my radeon 8500LE and I've owned more than a year. I don't think there was ever a better buy on a Graphics card. That hot babe only cost me $100 bucks which isn't too shabby for last year.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

It's quite simple. Q3/4 is for buying new PCs for school or christmas. Q1/2 is for finding out that the graphics aren't good enough.

Actually I'm NOT dissapointed with my R9600Pro, actually I'm quite satisfied, but I did want a new card at the time HL2 and D]|[ hit the marketplace. Also I want them to be PCI-EX cards (especially if they come with a funky AGP adapter so I can swap itinto older systems for tests) so I can build a good future surround-gaming setup. I am plannin a CPU/MOBO upgrade at that time so I wanted to do an all in one thing. Now I will definitely target a new Laptop before a new Desktop. Kinda wanted to move the R9600P to my 'video/content editing' box too, so waiting for that kinda rots too, well 'so be it'.

Delays are always bad IMO, especially since it means waiting evn longer for prices to come down on those and oher items.

Still looking for the card that will give me 1000+ FPS on Tetris.

Sweet get to see how well Nvidia can increase performance on my 5900 with new drivers. Very excited indeed.

Still waiting for the Detonator FXs!

You probably will get them when the NV40 launches.

Again I thought the FXs were already there!

People, the FXs are out, period. Ain't no more "HUGE OPTIMIZATIONS". They were unleashed with the 5900 out. Has everyone forgotten how much the 5800 Ultra benefitted?

Too much faith.

Det 50's and you cant say that look what the det 40's did for the Geforce 4's. nvidia always has something to pull out of their hats.

Yeah, ok, it was always said that they would be the 50.XX series. But I guess they just didn't do it. I guess I'm not as ontop of their drivers as the ATIs.

Still waiting for the CAT 3.7s and of course subsequentOMEGAs though. 😎

I was not aware that the GF4s had THAT much of a boost. Last I checked the R9700PRO still has a subtantial lead over the Ti4600, about as equal as in 2002 August.

Certain areas the Det 40's drove the Geforce 4's up to 25%. Thats quite the performance feat IMO. With consderations that rumors are floating about that the cards silicon isnt even working 40% of what it can leaves you to wounder if the driver crew is just overwelmed with the core.

Which can be a fair bet when you consider ATI's woes when the 9xxx series hit the market. Just my thoughts toodles.

Dude you can have my R9000non-pro that resides in my video/pic editing rig (for a small nominal fee [I usually accept all major Breweries] ). Paperweight status for games though.
