Bought a brand new computer from Dell today. and this system(8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8700K 6-Core Processor (12M Cache, up to 4.7 GHz)) come with default graphics card (NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 with 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory) which is good.

But they are telling me i can upgrade this and they are encouraging me to for some reason(all game i play is Dragonage, not much else). but these are the upgrade options.

1. for only $50 more, i can get the Ti version. NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 Ti with 8GB GDDR5

2. or for $150 more, i can get NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 with 8GB GDDR5X Graphics Memory.

Question is are these really worth these money to upgrade for ? am i getting a good deal here? should i really upgrade to these ? Thank you in advance

The 1070TI is pretty much always 10 FPS above the 1070.
Does that translate to 0.5% faster? Nope.
It's roughly 10% faster in The Witcher 3.

1070TI is on average 10-20 FPS above the 1070. There are a few cases where difference is smaller though.

Why would Nvidia release a card that is only 0.5% faster than its predecessor?
There would be no reason for people to buy the 1070TI if it doesn't offer better performance.
The 1070TI is between the 1070 and 1080 performance wise.

I'm pretty sure that Dell guy is...

$150 more for the 1080 is definitely NOT worth. That's highway robbery.

1070TI is basically a 1080. The 1080 is just a tad faster than the 1070TI, but definitely not $150 faster.

1070TI is about 18% faster than the 1070. Around 10-20 FPS
1080 is about 8% faster than the 1070TI. Or about 10-ish FPS.

You decide if it's worth it. But the 1080 for $150 is not a good deal.
There are various 1070 vs 1070TI or 1070TI vs 1080 video comparisons on YouTube if you want to go have a look.

Thank you, that really helps. had no idea 1080 is really not that different, thought it was like 50 % faster, LOL. i might call and upgrade to Ti for $50 more. It seems worth it.

I talked to this same DELL rep that sold me the system and tried to change the graphics card to Ti. but he told me it would be too much hassle and told me it is Not worth it. He he said Ti is only 0.5 % faster which is hardly any change. Is this true ? am i missing something. He said whoever that said Ti is 18 % faster than 1070 is ignorant or liar. LOL. Is this Dell guy full of it ?

I'm pretty sure that Dell guy is getting a percentage of the sales he makes. That's probably why he tries to up the price.
Or he simply doesn't know the video cards.

Again, $150 more for the 1080 isn't worth it.
Price to performance gains isn't worth. The 1070TI is possibly not worth it either, since it's 10-20 FPS for $50 more.

10-20 FPS faster translate to about 8% faster ? isn't that big difference ?

The Dell rep doesnt know what hes talking about. The 1070 ti is closer to a 1080 than it is to the 1070, its well worth the $50, can be overclocked to 1080 performance easily.
